I say Drakkar lake is 1. But most of the vanquishes are so easy with good ppl / builds. We even made Sacnoth valley in 35 mins np.

For me, Sacnoth Valley presented the toughest challenge. Those patrols in the burning forest area hit hard. After that, Arbor Bay is kinda rough because of the care that must be taken to avoid over-aggro and watching for patrols - especially that monk boss with it's elementalist entourage.

for me sacnoth and sparkfly are the hardest.... did everything with h/h for the burning forest just grab the siege devourer and get agro with it... as for sparkfly just use the regular discordway build for a fast spike while remaining mobs sux life of minions

I did some this weekend with my derv...
Char areas:
AP build (you) with PI (for burning forest)
Discord Necs (tweaked to carry frozen soil, lively was naomi, condition removal - depending on area)
prot, earth, + 2 other hench
2 x conset
rez scrolls & dp removal.
Sacnoth in about 1h 20m, the other 2 in about 1h.
Hardest: Sacnoth. Careful pulling in forest, 1 elemental + 1 PI = gg.
Asuran areas:
AP with interrupt prevention
normal discord, more focused on minions & hex removal
Prot hench + any 3 others (focus on dps).
1 x conset per area - not really needed, just makes it faster. Arbor in 1h, 15, others in less than 1h.
Hardest: mmm, maybe Arbor bay? They are all pretty easy actually.
Norn areas are all very easy. Just don't over-aggro.
So to answer OP's original question, Sacnoth, Grothmar, Dalada, Arbor, Magnus, Riven... and then the others.

Sparkfly Swamp ~ 'cause of all the dinos. Gave up first time cause our team build was clearly wrong. Second time took 3 (overkill I know) Jagged bones MMs and totally rolled the place.
Drakkar Lake ~ Not actually that bad but by god it takes a long time, and all the VoS using Djinns on the snare causing ice gets old very quickly ...
Sacnoth ~ Did this on my own HH first time. Slow and tedious. My advice would be, get at least 3 human players with some time on their hands, then vanquish all three Charr areas using all three devourers. It's immense fun bombing the crap outta all those Charr. Once you got all three devourers on the go s**t just blows up.

Did so too, and micro-ing your hero's is a must, spreading them out is always a good thing, in many vanquishes especially when you face many eles or other aoe dmg

I had no trouble vanquishing those areas with Heros and Henchies. But then I used the Siege Devourer the Charr keep leaving, it was just waiting for me.

You don't really need to micro-manage them... Just pin them back far enough and pull a few at a time.
To answer the OP's question. I found the hardest area was Sparkfly Swamp, by far. Wardowns was very easy, not even a hero died.

Reason: responding to needless microing.

I H/H my Legendary Master of the North, and I have to say that Charr balanced groups are a real pain when they're large.
Stone summit groups can be even more difficult, but you won't find them outside dungeons (slaver's and vloxen hm).
I usually use a critscythe sin + two RoJ monks and a minion bomber for big aoe damage (solo discordway is boring). As long as I managed to get them balled in aoe, everything was fine, I often had to micro flags, interrupts and RoJ.
The hardest vanquishes were in the charr territory, but it was nothing compared to hm rragar's.
Try to adapt your builds as much as possible, for example curses > dinos in asuran territories, take foul feast when facing krait (bsurge ><) if you're playing physicals...

Sacnoth Valley. Specifically the burning forest. Even more specifically: the ele boss.
He's a SF boss accompanied by 4 SF Djinns. QQ.

Not sure about which is the hardest, but one of the easiest is Sacnoth Valley. I know, I know, the burning forest is kinda tricky, but once you've got 2/3 Seige Devourers tearing that place up its kinda a walkover.

We get quite a range of opinions here, but Sparkfly Swamp seems to be no.1.

...which is really quite strange because that is the one area I completely "c-spaced". Guess it helps to run 2 MM heroes there then.

I'm amazed at how many people find the Siege Devourers to be helpful. I H/H VQ'd one of the Charr areas (the one adjacent to Doomlore Shrine) yesterday and I found it to be not very helpful at all. After about 4 attacks you're full of exhaustion and the attacks don't do a lot of damage in the first place. The KD is a nice bonus but it's only adjacent and you don't have a lot of energy for several attacks. The worst part is that you don't have access to your regular skills. Outside the devourer, things went much much faster with Sniper and Pain Inverter, hex and condition calling the targets for the discord heroes. I took 3 discord heroes, the 2 ele and 2 monk henchmen, and I played sniper/PI burning ele.

H/H'd everything without cons. I'd say the Burning Forest in Sacnoth Valley (didn't use the Siege Devourer), but mostly due to the fact that I didn't check wiki before I started vqing, so the only protection against the fire damage I had was Ward against Elements. The weird thing was that after the ele boss wiped my party (he still had about 3/4 health) I couldn't find him anymore after being ressed at the resshrine. Luckily the vq still counted.

For me this very hard so I ended up doing it while I completed the quest (against the Charr if I remember correctly). After that it wasn't bad at all.
Blisterbark was a pain in may ass as well didn't totally prepare for him. Only problem I had with that zone.

Arbor Bay...Stupid monkeys -.- I still havent bothered to go back there. Drakkar Lake was pretty hard as well. Damn horses and their monks + our 60dp <.<. I didn't find the charr areas to be that hard.
Any of the asura areas were a pain in the ass w/ the dinos & raptors x.x

I H/H'd every eotn zone when getting my "master of the north" title. Hardest areas were Sacnoth valley (damn burning forest) and Sparkfly swamp.
They are very doable with H/H, just have to be careful and tailor your builds to the area.
Most annoying area: Arbor bay. so friggin big, it took forever. One of the biggest vanqs in the game if I recall correctly.

I'm guessing you mean Joffs the Mitigator in Riven...yea he took a few tries to take down.
Dalada was pretty easy besides the Mantids...they really should scrap the whole supernatural self-rezzing, sure bugs keep coming back but not when they're stuck to my boot.
So yea in that respect Riven>Dalada .
